Trauma: Soft Tissue Injuries after local anesthesia
Freezing is often used in your child’s mouth during treatment to ensure his/her comfort. Since this freezing can last for 2-3 hours after treatment, it is important that your child does not chew or bite on his/her lip, cheeks, or tongue. Serious soft tissue injury may occur.
If such soft tissue injuries occur after treatment, please place an ice pack around the injured area and give your child Tylenol for pain management. It is also recommended that you contact us to arrange for a follow up appointment if you are concerned.
